Welcome to the Restoration Druid Healer guide for World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a. In this guide, you will learn about playing a Restoration Druid in a raid. The guide includes Talents, Glyphs, Gems, Enchantments, BiS Gear, Add-ons, Gameplay & Skill rotation tips.
Talents
This is a core build. You have 4 points left which you can use anywhere you see fit: Nature’s Grace, Empowered Touch, Natural Perfection and Tranquil Spirit are good options.
Glyphs
Major Glyphs
The first two are a must-have, the last one you choose yourself
Minor Glyphs
Gems
Gems are situational and depend on the build and equipment. They are used to reach the required stat caps.
- Meta: Insightful Earthsiege Diamond or Ember Skyflare Diamond
- Red: Runed Cardinal Ruby
- Yellow: Reckless Ametrine
- Blue: Runed Cardinal Ruby
If you choose Insightful Earthsiege Diamond, you will need one Purified Dreadstone to activate it.
Enchants
- Head – Arcanum of Burning Mysteries
- Shoulder – Greater Inscription of the Storm
- Cloak – Enchant Cloak – Greater Speed
- Chest – Enchant Chest – Powerful Stats
- Bracers – Enchant Bracers – Superior Spellpower
- Gloves – Enchant Gloves – Exceptional Spellpower
- Waist – Eternal Belt Buckle
- Legs – Brilliant Spellthread
- Boots – Tuskarr’s Vitality or Enchant Boots – Greater Spirit
- Weapons – Enchant Weapon – Mighty Spellpower if one-handed or Enchant Staff – Greater Spellpower if you have a staff
Stat Priority
Haste -> Spell Power -> Spirit -> Critical Strike -> Intellect
Improving Haste reduces the cooldown of Rejuvenation to 1 second. We need 856 Haste rating combined with Gift of the Earthmother to do it. Next, we have Spell Power that increases the power of our healing spells. Stack it as much as possible.
Not only does Spirit increase our mana regeneration, but it is also partially converted into Spell Power (15%) via the Improved Tree of Life talent. Critical strike rating is a nice thing to have after we have enough Haste since it contributes to our healing with heal crits and via the Living Seed talent. Natural Perfection will provide you with an additional 3% if you choose to take it.
Rotation
There is definitely a lot more to learn since healers don’t have a strict rotation. These are the very basics that will get you started.
Use Rejuvenation and Lifebloom on the tank from the start. Maintain Lifebloom on the tank and refresh it. If the tank is taking a lot of damage, then let it work its full duration.
Standard AoE combo: Wild Growth -> five Rejuvenation -> Wild Growth -> five Rejuvenation and so on…
Add Regrowth if some players are receiving too much damage and use Swiftmend for instant healing.
Tranquility is used after a massive AoE or when the raid is about to die (combine it with Barkskin if necessary).
BiS Gear
- Head – Sanctified Lasherweave Helmet
- Shoulder – Sanctified Lasherweave Pauldrons
- Cloak – Greatcloak of the Turned Champion
- Chest – Sanguine Silk Robes (This cloth item is justified by the amount of Haste it gives)
- Bracers – Bracers of Fiery Night
- Gloves – Sanctified Lasherweave Gauntlets
- Waist – Professor’s Bloodied Smock
- Legs – Sanctified Lasherweave Legplates
- Boots – Boots of Unnatural Growth
- Neck – Bone Sentinel’s Amulet
- Rings – Memory of Malygos and Ashen Band of Endless Wisdom
- Trinkets – Althor’s Abacus and Glowing Twilight Scale
- Main-hand – Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings
- Off-hand – Sundial of Eternal Dusk
- Idol – Idol of the Black Willow
thanks for the stuff – but can u add a pre-raid BiS gears too ? thanks
Overall nice guide, but, Id like to add a few things here. Only use Nourish glyph as your 3rd option, or innervate if your guild REALLY needs mana, but, nourish is bestas it lets you tank heal too, in niche situations.
Secondly, we need 856 haste to reduce Rejuv NOT regrowth.
Thirdly, we only use “Reckless Ametrine” in yellow IF we need the haste, otehrwise all gems should be RED, except 1 blue for our meta.
4th, I prefer to use the minor glyph “Glyph of Dash” as it lets us Cat Form and Dash more often. Very nice mobility.
5th If youre low on haste use the Celestial Focus build, 4th line down to the right on balance tree, to reduce your haste cap to 735.
6th As rdudu you will blanket the raid in rejug+wild growth, but, youll also tank heal if your rsham + hpali are BAD aka Nourish will be your tank healing spell. This is why we take the Nourish glyph because people are BAD at this game.
As an example of bad healers, Holy paladins think they have to keep up JoL… This is false. They only need to use JoL/JoW once every 59-60 seconds for the Haste buff. People play for meters and tank dies due to Hpali being dumb.
Just to add, Overall this is a nice guide just a few minor details
It’s not an option because Glyph of Nourish is significantly superior. The reason for this is that (the second choice would be glyph of rejuvenation) Glyph of Rejuvenation adds 50% of a rejuvenation tick to a regular tick when a player is below 50% (for example, a reju tick is between 3-6k boosted, thus when a person is below 50% it would do 3-6k plus 50% of it (6k+3k) 9k. With a rejuvenation ticking every 3 seconds and a cast time of 1.089 seconds, no one in any guild would be below 50% for more than 3+1.089=4.1 seconds. While the glyph of nourish adds 6% of a nourish to each HOT on a target, a nourish is between 7-10k, you would normally blanket the raid and have hots on practically everyone with Wild Growth on the raid, which is roughly 2k more heal. Yes, the rejuvenation 50% provides more healing, however unlike someone who is below 50% for a brief period of time, wild growth and reju keeps on target for 18-6 seconds.
If we’re talking about meta gems with blue sockets, you only need them if you’re incredibly low geared, but other than that, you won’t be short on mana at all.
You don’t pick Glyph of Nourish because rsham/hpala are awful; nourish isn’t even close to a direct heal from them; yeah, glyph of nourish is better, but even with all HOTs on the target, it’ll provide about the same amount of healing, whereas they don’t require everything on the target to deliver decent healing. Glyph of Nourish is somewhat better than Reju, but it’s still not ideal because you’ll be focusing your hots on the tank rather of a player getting spiky damage.
In most encounters, you don’t want to just blanket “The raid” since you need to proc revitalize on melee because melee take more damage, so wasting mana on just spamming rejuvenation everywhere is pointless if the whole raid isn’t suffering damage. The majority of what you mentioned is correct, however you are mis-phrasing it.
Some things that are wrong with this guide. You need the gcd of rejuv down to one second that is why you need the 856 haste cap. I would not recommend speccing into natures grace because it only saves you .1 second on regrowth and healing touch is terrible. Tranquility is NOT a raid wide heal it is party only. Lifebloom on the tank should also only be used if you have clearcasting for the free mana.
Do you have any weapon recommendations besides valanyr? Im about last on the list for valanyr in my guild lol
Trauma
man gotta ask Runed Cardinal Ruby is for red socket only but you put it also on blue socket
you’re right. Maybe because there’s no blue gem good for restos so we should still use the +23 SP
you can put any gems in any socket. but u will miss out on the socket bonus if u put a red one into a blue socket.
The socket bonus doesnt matter that much if the socket bonus give you like +9 spellpower the red gem gives you more so its not worth it
Red gem gives 23spell power , there is a blue gem that gives 12 spell power + 10 spirit . 15% of the spirit is converted into spell power so that gives us 10 spirit = 2 spell power + 9 from the bonus that we activate the gem slot = blue gem with 12spell power + 10 spirit actualy gives 23 spell power + 10 spirit (for mana regen)
so are you saying that its better to put the blue gem with 12 SP + 10 spirit? Cause that’s my opinion too
its 1.5 spell power not two. Go for socket bonus when you can but if you are min maxing the 23 spell power is more spell power
holy shit you guys are bad. It is a known fact that you do not go for socket bonuses cuz it is a SP loss. Rdudu have the best mana regen in the GAME, wotlk that is. Stop being bad and watch Unholyspirit or Funkymusic on youtube…
Dou you even realize that ine blue gem is needed for the meta gem to work? Seems it got past you…
i mostly agree with spec, but i’d go for something like this instead: https://wotlkdb.com/?talent#0VG0zZZf0IubhxiuAIsVo:AkZmz just minor differences
why would you go with 3/3 Sublety? 2/3 sublety 1/5 tranquil spirit 2/3 Natural Perfection are bis talents.
what are the pre raid bis items
you are saying that you need 856 haste to get rejuvenation down to a 1 sec cast even though its an instant spell ? theres something wrong there
Should have said Regrowth, got that updated.
No, it should not have said regrowth. There’s a 1.5 second global cooldown that geta reduced down to 1 second with 856 haste. So yes you need 856 haste to reduce rejuv cooldown down to 1 second.
youre so bad xD this guy dont even know about GCD KEKW
For the head enchant you said BiS is Arcanum of Burning Mysteries why not this one https://wotlkdb.com/?item=44152 (Arcanum of Blissful Mending)
because mp5 adds nothing as Rdudu has the best mana regen in the game. The other one i terrible too, cuz crit is meh, but it adds SOMETHING to our heals.
no because mp5 doesn’t scale well on resto druids, also crit is our best stat after spell power.
its The 2nd best stat after haste “cap” right?
