PvE Restoration Druid Healer Guide

PVE Restoration Druid Healer Guide WotLK 3.3.5a

Welcome to the Restoration Druid PvE guide for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic!

Restoration Druids bring with them the gift of Eonar, the titan of life and nature in all shapes or forms, offering their nurturing spells to whoever seeks their aid. Assuming the very essence and shape of the Great Tree of Life, they bestow blooming seeds upon their allies, mending their wounds over time, all while being capable of reversing the most severe and critical injuries in a swift, precise action.

Restoration Druids receive huge buffs to their toolkit in Wrath of the Lich King, with their Heal-Over-Time (HoT) spells gaining the ability to be critical, and a new smart AoE heal among these fantastic new tools. When it comes to Area of Effect healing, you will truly shine, being able to blanket your raid in HoT effects like Wild Growth while also maintaining strong single-target capabilities with spells like Lifebloom.

Wild Growth is a new spell in Wrath of the Lich King. This one is a 5-target “smart heal”, meaning that it will target the lowest-health players when cast. A very important aspect of this spell, and Restoration Druids overall, is Revitalize, giving your Wild Growth and Rejuvenation ticks a chance to restore resources to their target. This is an important DPS boost to your raid, and because of this you always want to keep Wild Growth on cooldown.

Restoration Druid Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Extremely Powerful Healing
Restoration Druid is a very powerful healing specialization, both in Single-Target and AoE situations. And, actually, Restoration Druids are mainly known as AoE Kings of the expansion. They can boast of this title, especially since they have access to spells such as Wild Growth.
  • Combat Resurrection
Druids can also boast about being the only class in the entire game that has access to a viable combat resurrection ability. Not only do you have extremely powerful healing, but you can also prevent a wipe with the Rebirth spell.
  • Great Utility and Crowd Control
Restoration Druids have access to a variety of utility and crowd control spells, allowing them to support their allies during tough times. You will be able to ensnare annoying monsters with Entangling Roots or block them in a terrifying Cyclone. You also have access to two very powerful replenishment effects that can greatly aid your allies. The first is Revitalize, which can grant resources to any allied player. The second effect is a targeted ability that can restore massive amounts of mana, Innervate.
  • Easy to Learn
Restoration Druids have an easy learning curve, meaning that you will master the specialization in no time!

  • Mana-Hungry Specialization
One of the biggest weaknesses of the Restoration Druid is their mana management. We have talents that aid us with this problem, however, spamming our abilities mindlessly will leave us without our precious mana extremely fast. This problem is more apparent at the beginning of the expansion, becoming less of a burden as the expansion progresses.
  • Gear-Dependent
Since they have huge issues with their mana management, Restoration Druids are highly dependent on good equipment to successfully mitigate this problem. Without proper equipment, you will find yourself out of mana quite fast.
  • Weaker Single-Target than Other Healers
While Restoration Druids excel at AoE healing, their Single-Target healing pales in comparison to other specializations in the expansion, such as Holy Paladins.

We hope this guide helped you decide if PvE Restoration Druid is the class/spec for you. Make sure to check out our other sections, such as talents, gear, gems etc., to get more information on how to improve your performance as a Discipline Priest in WotLK!
