Welcome to Warcraft Tavern’s Reputation Guide for the Alliance Vanguard in Wrath of the Lich King Classic! In this guide, we’ll go over all the ways you can gain rep with the Alliance Vanguard faction, and cover how they’re related to the Alliance Vanguard sub-factions. We’ll also discuss the best way to reach Exalted with this faction.
Trivia: The Alliance Vanguard commands the Alliance forces that are currently fighting the Lich King in Northrend.
How to Reach Exalted with the Alliance Vanguard
The Alliance Vanguard is a unique faction in that there is essentially no way to gain reputation with them directly. Instead, you gain reputation with the Alliance Vanguard by earning reputation with its four sub-factions:
Every time you gain reputation with one of the four sub-factions, you gain 50% of that rep with the Alliance Vanguard as well. Therefore, you need to reach Exalted in two of the sub-factions (or earn the equivalent rep spread across all four) in order to reach Exalted with the Alliance Vanguard.
For details on how to gain rep with the sub-factions, click a sub-faction from the list above.
In addition to quests, you can earn reputation with all the Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (and therefore with the Alliance Vanguard) by running Heroic Instances without a tabard. (H)Utgarde Keep and (H)Utgarde Pinnacle, or (H)Azjol-Nerub and (H)Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom are both excellent choices. These pairs of dungeons are easy to clear, and each pair has entrances near each other (to save travel time). Optionally, you can also avoid killing the bosses and then exit/re-enter the instances after killing the trash in order to earn even more rep each day.
There is technically one quest that gives Alliance Vanguard rep specifically — Honor Above All Else. However, it only gives 10 rep and so isn’t really worth seeking out for the rep alone.
Who Needs Alliance Vanguard Rep?
The gear sold by the Alliance Vanguard isn’t especially powerful, and better gear can be obtained at lower levels. The only group this rep is a must-have for is Engineers who want to ride in style with the Schematic: Mekgineer’s Chopper. If you choose to purchase your flying skill/mount with the Alliance Vanguard you can get a discount depending on your rep; this is useful if you don’t have much Stormwind rep. Blacksmiths can buy the recipe for Plans: Titanium Plating, which will be sought after by warriors and paladins, for PvE and PvP purposes.
- Schematic: Mekgineer’s Chopper
- Engineers will be looking for this recipe, especially early on. This is the first two-seated mount introduced in the game, so it will be highly sought after. This recipe is available at Exalted.
- Plans: Titanium Plating
- This is a good economy item for Blacksmiths to sell on the auction house, as this will be one of the best options for tanks’ shield enchantment.
- The Winds of the North– Gain Exalted with Alliance Vanguard.
- 40 Exalted Reputations – Alliance Vanguard and its four sub-factions all count toward this achievement
Alliance Vanguard Faction Rewards
There are two Quartermasters you can purchase Alliance Vanguard faction items from, Logistics Officer Silverstone in Valiance Keep (Borean Tundra) and Logistics Officer Brighton in Valgarde (Howling Fjord). Both NPCs sell the same items, so you can go to whichever one is more convenient.
