Blizzard appears to be poised to fix as many bugs and exploits as possible just before the release of WotLK Classic, which is now a few short days away. Hotfixes have been coming out almost every other day, and today is no different.

Today’s hotfix includes only one change: raids will now count towards the 5 instance per hour limit. Players will still be able to enter a raid after having entered 5 different dungeons, but now resetting a raid instance 5 times within an hour will cause players to be unable to enter another instance.

This change is clearly intended to curb the emerging phenomenon of players quickly farming raids for resources and then resetting, with Karazhan currently being the raid of choice, being a very popular gold farming spot for multiple classes. Blizzard appears to be unhappy with this strategy, and rather than tuning the raids so as to drop less gold, they are instead limiting the amount of times that players can enter raids.

This change is quickly proving to be very unpopular, with players voicing their opinions on various forums. It remains to be seen if Blizzard listens to players and reverts this change.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

  • Raids will now count towards the 5 instance-per-hour limit.
    • Developers’ notes: The hourly instance limit prevents players from entering instances that they’ve entered at least once already within the last hour. With this change, farming a dungeon should not prevent you from entering a raid instance, so long as you don’t attempt to reset and re-enter that raid instance multiple times.
