Static Shock Rune Guide – Season of Discovery

Where to Find the Static Shock Rune in Season of Discovery (SoD)

This guide will cover how to get the Static Shock Rune for Shamans in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Static Shock Rune

It seems that you currently cannot obtain this rune on your own, so group up with at least one more person (regardless of their Class).

Then, activate the Charged Totem in the southeast ogre area of Feralas around (60, 66) that gives a Charged Air buff when clicked.

Stand near the totem and have one player deal damage to mobs nearby with nature damage (Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Lightning Shield).

Make sure the rest of the group gets the Static Buildup buff. Dealing nature damage has a chance to trigger the buff, so consider bringing multiple Shamans for a higher chance.

Once you have dealt enough damage with this method, a level 44 Whirling Tempest elemental will appear at a random location nearby. Kill this mob to get the rune.

Some tips:

  • One of the most reliable methods so far has been Lightning Shield charges — Lightning Shield has 3 stacks, and each time you get hit a charge is spent and an enemy takes a small amount of damage.
  • However, since the Lightning Bolt rank 1 has a short cast time, it may also be easier to just spam it instead.
  • The spawning of the elemental is currently a bit unreliable: continue following the outlined steps and dealing nature damage. Out of all discovered options, the Lightning Shield approach seems to currently be the most dependable.
