Prepare for hilarity as you watch your raid members get flung off Crowd Pummeler’s floating platform to their deaths. Awareness and quick reflexes are the key to this encounter, as you’ll need to dodge a cacophony of knock-back mechanics, thwarting any attempts to throw you from the arena.

This guide will offer a detailed, step-by-step tutorial on how to deal with the Crowd Pummeler 9-60 encounter in the revamped 10-player Gnomeregan raid.

TL;DR

Dodge spinning gears flying randomly across the arena.
Don’t stand in front of the boss during his cast of Gnomeregan Smash.
Be ready to heal through massive damage when a player gets picked up by The Claw!

Abilities

Crowd Pummeler looks in a random direction, and after a brief cast time, knocks everyone back in his path. Simply move behind the boss to avoid this.

Crowd Pummeler targets a random raid member and grabs him in his claw, dealing massive damage and CCing them for 10 seconds. The affected player can use immunities such as Ice Block or Divine Shield to prevent this, but will otherwise need lots of healing.

Fast-moving gears spawn in the boss arena, zipping around randomly. Making contact with the gears knocks you back and deals heavy physical damage. Try your best to avoid all the gears, but just in-case, it’s a good idea not to stand too close to the edge of the platform or you may get knocked off.

Raid Composition & Preparation

Only one tank is required.
Two healers are recommended. You could potentially get away with one healer as the outgoing damage is quite low if people don’t fail mechanics. However, there is a significant risk of one of your two healers being picked up by The Claw! making bringing a second healer prudent.
A balanced DPS composition is best for this encounter.

The Fight

The primary focus of this fight is to dodge the Crowd Pummeler’s two knockback mechanics: Gnomeregan Smash and Gear Toss. Gnomeregan Smash has a long windup and is fairly predictable; the boss will look in a direction, and after a few seconds, charge in that direction, knocking anyone he hits off the platform. Simply side-step the boss to dodge this ability and continue pumping.

Gear Toss is certainly harder to dodge as there may be several fast-moving gears flying around the platform at any given time. Dodging these gears will occasionally require periods of heavy movement to dodge one or multiple gears in a row.
