Sunken Temple Raid Overview

Welcome to our strategy guide for the 20-man version of the Sunken Temple, or the Temple of Atal’Hakkar. This raid is available starting at level 50 in Phase 3 and offers 8 unique bosses.

This guide aims to help you understand how best to prepare yourself and your raid group for the Sunken Temple by giving you an overview of each encounter, providing an in-depth explanation of each boss, discussing positioning, and how you can set yourself up for success.

Finding the Entrance to the Temple of Atal’Hakkar

The Sunken Temple can be found in the southeast of the Swamp of Sorrows, requiring you to dive underwater and trek through a maze of hallways and trolls to find the entrance.

Ideal Raid Composition

Building your raid for the Sunken Temple is fairly straightforward, but unfortunately relies heavily on stacking a few classes. Most fights favor ranged DPS, making them the clear priority. You will also need a lot of dispels of various sorts. Mages and Druids are vital for Remove Curse, Shamans, Paladins, and Priests are vital for their abilities to cure Diseases, Poisons, and Magic. You will also want to have a mix of around 5 Hunters and Priests on the Defenders fight, as you will need to CC Undead enemies with Freezing Trap or Shackle Undead.

The raid does not always require two tanks, but there are a handful of bosses that will be a struggle without multiple tanks. At times, you may even want to have a third tank ready to swap over for some fights. You will also need several interrupts throughout the raid. Fights can also be very long, making it important to bring a good amount of healers. At a minimum, I recommend bringing 4, but ideally, you would want to have 2 extras that can flex between DPS and Healing
