- Expansion: WoW Classic
Phase 3 of Season of Discovery brings the skill cap for professions to 300, allowing players to max out all of their crafting and gathering skills. For the Engineering profession, that means you’ll be able to craft all kinds of interesting gadgets and explosives!
Engineering Leveling & Trainers
Check out our Classic Engineering Guide for trainer locations, a leveling guide, and more. Everything in that guide applies to Season of Discovery except for the level requirements for higher skill ranks (level 26 for Expert and level 41 for Artisan). There are some new recipes that are exclusive to Season of Discovery which we’ll cover in this guide, but they aren’t needed for leveling.
Learning Artisan Engineering
From Phase 3 on, players will be able to level their professions all the way to 300 skill, or Artisan level – the maximum skill for Vanilla WoW.
Artisan Engineering can only be learned from one specific trainer:
- Buzzek Bracketswing at Gadgetzan in Tanaris (52.3, 27.7)
Engineering Specializations
Along with the Artisan Engineering skill, players are now able to learn either Gnomish Engineering or Goblin Engineering. These specializations allow you to craft the specialization-exclusive schematics which you can see marked in the tables later in this guide.
For a complete breakdown of what each specialization offers and a walkthrough for completing the quests, check out our Engineering Specializations Guide.
Gnome Engineering Racial
Gnomes have an advantage in leveling the Engineering skill due to their Engineering Specialization racial. This ability offers no advantage once you reach the skill cap, however. There are no schematics that require higher than 300 Engineering skill in Vanilla World of Warcraft.
New Engineering Schematics for Season of Discovery
Several new schematics have been added to the Engineering profession for Season of Discovery.
Phase 3 adds three new Engineer-exclusive Wrist items to the game:
In Phase 2, six more schematics were added to the game:
- Polished Truesilver Gears is a component used by other crafting recipes
- Ez-Thro Radiation Bomb is a new bomb that can be sold to non-Engineers
- High-Yield Radiation Bomb is a new bomb for Engineers only
- Hyperconductive Goldwrap is a useful Waist item for damage dealers
- Whirling Truesilver Gearwall is a powerful Shield piece for tanks
- Soul Vessel is used by Warlocks to obtain their Grimoire of Synergy Rune
One new schematic was added to the game for Phase 1:
- Shredder Autosalvage Unit is used for a quest that is required to discover one rune for every class
Phase 3 Engineering Schematics
Here are the best items you’ll be able to craft with Engineering in Phase 3, broken down by type. Waylaid Supplies items are marked with an asterisk (*) in any table on this page. (There are two in Other Equippable Gear, one under Scopes, five in Explosives, one under Gadgets, and one in Combat Pets.)
Helmets & Goggles
All of the helm and goggle schematics in Vanilla WoW can now be crafted in Season of Discovery.

Combat Pets
These items summon pets that will fight for you for a short time.
A couple of notes about target dummies: the different versions are level 20, 40, and 60 and will only work on enemies around or below their level range. When they expire or are killed, they have a chance to drop Fused Wiring as well as any of the materials that were used to make them.

Max professions for phase 1 of SoD are actually 150 LOL, 225 locked to level 26
What he said – you can’t make half of this stuff!
Should be all fixed up now! That level 26 change was a surprise
Unfortunately I think a few things here are accurate but not possible to actually craft – for example, how are we supposed to get Frost Oil for Ice Deflector?
Good catch, I overlooked that.
Where’s Heavy Dynamite?
Added!
Won’t net-o-matic be available in p2 as well?
Unfortunately not since it requires Gnomish specialization.
Specialization requires artisan engineering? All I can find is that it requires 200 engi, but I guess that’s when artisan becomes available in era.
