Shazzrah, the third Flamewaker Lieutenant, is the sixth boss encounter in Molten Core, and unlike the other Lieutenants is not accompanied by any additional mobs.
Season of Mastery
In Season of Mastery, Shazzrah will leave a copy after blinking. This copy will cast Arcane Explosion continuously until Shazzrah has been defeated.
Abilities
Shazzrah
Shazzrah’s Curse (Curse)
A debuff that increases magic damage taken by double.
Arcane Explosion (Arcane)
An AOE damage explosion that deals 925-1075 Arcane damage to all players within 30 yards.
Blink
Shazzrah will instantly teleport to a random player and reset all threat. After Blink, a clone is left behind that will not move and continuously use Arcane Explosion.
Counterspell (Arcane)
Counters any spells being cast in a 45 yard radius and prevents any spells from that school from being cast for10 seconds.
Deaden Magic (Arcane)
A self buff Shazzrah applies, this reduces all Magic Damage taken by 50%.
Strategy
Ensure a large amount of space is cleared for this encounter as it will require significant movement to execute properly. Have ranged stack in two groups with an offtank in each. Make sure decurse and healers are equally distributed between each group. Shamans, Priests, and Warriors specced into Shield Slam can remove Deaden Magic and should do so immediately as it can greatly reduce the raid’s damage output.
After Shazzrah uses Blink, all DPS needs to stop immediately and allow the closest tank to establish threat. Also, players nearest to Shazzrah’s Blink location will need to move away as now both Shazzrah and the clone left behind will begin to Arcane Explosion. Tanks, followed by melee DPS should be prioritized for decursing. As the room begins to fill with Arcane Explosion copies of Shazzrah, the fight location will need to shift towards the tunnel entrance or up the ramp.
Role Summaries
Tanks
Prior to Blink being cast, tanks should save up high threat abilities to use immediately after Blink is cast to gain threat. Movement out of clones range of Arcane Explosion is also essential.
Mages / Druids
Critical to the success of this fight is having Ignite Mana decursed off of all tanks, then melee, and finally ranged.
Consumes
Greater Arcane Protection Potion
All raid members should have a pre-popped Greater Arcane Protection Potion for mitigating arcane damage from Arcane Explosion.
