Lucifron is the first boss encounter in Molten Core and patrols near the entrance to the Magmadar cavern. Lucifron is accompanied by four Flamewaker Protectors.

Season of Mastery

Lucifron now has four Flamewaker Protectors (up from two in Classic). Special consideration will need to be applied to as this ability will mind control a raid member for each Flamewaker Protector still alive.

Lucifron’s Curse (Curse)

An AOE curse with a 45 yard range this increases the cost of all spells and abilities by 100% for 5 min. (Applies to all spells and abilities, whether they cost mana, rage, or energy!)

Impending Doom (Magic)

An AOE magic debuff that deals 2000 Shadow damage if not dispelled within 10 sec.

Shadow Shock (Shadow)

An instant single target attack that inflicts Shadow damage to a random target within 20 yards.

Flamewaker Protector

Cleave (Physical)

A physical frontal attack that deals weapon damage plus 30 to an enemy and its nearest allies, affecting up to 3 targets.

Dominate Mind (Mind Control)

Takes control of a humanoid enemy up to level 25 for 15 sec.

Flamewaker Protectors

Position the Flamewaker Protectors greater than 45 yards away from Lucifron to minimize the impact of Lucifron’s and Depending on your raid damage these can be grouped up and cleaved or taken down one by one, with the latter strategy being the most effective when learning the fight or with low gear levels. Tank these away facing away to prevent unnecessary damage. Make sure to not kill players afflicted by Mind Control until they can be dispelled.

After the Flamewaker Protectors have been defeated the rest of the raid will join the fight against Lucifron. This becomes a dispel and decurse fight based on the effectiveness of your raid handling and

Mages & Druids

Decurse Prioritize healers and the main tank.

Restorative Potion

Restorative potion is the recommended choice of potion to use when engaging Lucifron. Due to its 30 second duration it can often cleanse multiple Impending Doom and Lucifron’s Curse.

Greater Shadow Protection Potion

Because all of Lucifron’s magic abilities are shadow damage, a pre-popped Greater Shadow Protection Potion (GSPP) can be very helpful in mitigating raid wide damage.
