Garr, a massive obsidian earth elemental joined by eight Firesworn elementals, is the fourth boss encounter in Molten Core.
Season of Mastery
In Season of Mastery, Garr has two major changes. First, he will now summon smaller earth elementals that explode for about 1000 damage and knock back. When Garr reaches 50% all Firesworn will become immune to banish.
Abilities
Garr
Enrage
A buff that increases attack speed by 9% and size by 5%.
Antimagic Pulse (Dispel)
An AOE magic ability that periodically dispels one beneficial spell effect.
Magma Shackles (Magic)
An AOE slow ability with a 45 yard radius that reduces the speed of all players.
Immolate (Fire)
A single target ability that deals fire damage to the main threat target and applies a DOT effect.
Firesworn
Massive Eruption (Fire, Knockback)
On dying, deals 3325 AOE Fire damage and knocks back all targets within 30 yards.
Strategy
Again, ensure a large amount of trash is cleared inside Garr’s cavern due to the increased space required for this fight. Assign Banish targets to Warlocks to keep each Firesworn contained until 50%. Have off tanks pick up the remaining Firesworn and have ranged DPS these down. Be sure to off tank away from the raid and against a cavern wall as they Massive Eruption on death for a significant amount of fire damage and an excessive knockback. Keep the entire raid spread out (including melee) to avoid splash damage from the new smaller exploding elementals.
After Garr reaches 50% he will then free all currently banished Firesworn and make them immune to crowd control for the rest of the fight. Have off tanks ready and assigned to pick these up while the rest of the raid finishes off Garr.
Role Summaries
Main Tank
A textbook tank and spank. Make sure Garr is tanked away from exploding Firesworn.
Off Tanks
Off tanks assigned to Firesworn will need to ensure they are picking these up at the beginning of the fight and as they become immune to banish. Special consideration should be applied to Firesworn breaking from Banish or potential Warlock deaths.
Warlocks
Critical to the success of this fight is keeping your Firesworn banished until it can be killed or off tanked.
Ranged DPS
Ranged DPS should focus on killing the assigned Firesworn when available while staying out of Massive Eruption range.
Melee DPS
Melee DPS should focus on killing Garr. Moving between the adds is very difficult due to Magma Shackles.
Healers
Special consideration needs to be applied to tanks on exploding Firesworn. Power Word: Shield helps to mitigate the damage on all who would be affected.
