Blizzard Responds to WoW Classic Development Community Questions

Since the announcement of WoW: Classic towards the end of November, Blizzard has been fairly quiet when it comes to updates on the project. The silence has finally been lifted, and now community manager Ythisens has finally said something.

What we do know at this point is that WoW: Classic will use the 1.12 patch and should be released sometime during the Summer of 2019. That’s a fairly vague time frame though, and could quite honestly mean a release anywhere between June and September.

Ythisens has mentioned that the development of WoW: Classic is “a complicated process.” This might be a little perplexing when you consider that WoW: Classic is supposed to be a reboot of a previous version of the game and they do have the same code they used back then.

Either way, Ythisens adds that development is moving alone despite the challenges, and that he has nothing else to share. He acknowledges that the community would appreciate a Q&A session, but wouldn’t like to do so until he can provide 100% factual answers.

In a twist of irony, Ythisens also mentions he is opposed to offering a Q&A when there is nothing new to add, similar to the nature of this very response. There aren’t any specific updates at this time, but it’s a good sign that WoW: Classic is coming along at some pace.

The development is definitely moving along but it’s a complicated process and I don’t have any specific details to share at this point. We know you’d like to have a Q&A and a variety of things answered, but we’d prefer to have concrete answers to give you guys or new information. I’m personally very opposed to doing a Q&A for the sake of doing it without saying anything new. For everyone’s sake that’s just the better choice when it comes to these types of things.
