Level 60 Preview for Phase 4 & Beyond in Season of Discovery

Level 60 Preview for Phase 4 & Beyond in Season of Discovery

Along with all of the content we saw previewed for the upcoming Phase 3 in Season of Discovery today, Blizzard also gave us a sneak peek at what they have planned for Phase 4 and beyond – with an adamant disclaimer that any of this can and likely will change before we get there.

Level 60 Raids in Season of Discovery

All raid lockouts from Phase 3 on will be one week in length. As a tradeoff, you can expect to see more loot drop, and can also expect to use those items for a good long while. They are designed with the level 60 endgame in mind.

Many Vanilla raids are mentioned in the video, confirming that Blizzard plans to include Blackwing Lair, Onyxia’s Lair, Zul’Gurub, and Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj in addition to Molten Core. It’s therefore likely that all of the original Vanilla raids are planned to be revamped for later phases of the season.

Level 60 Itemization in Season of Discovery

We’ll also be seeing some new itemization on gear from these level 60 raids. Most items from level 60 content will be retuned for Season of Discovery. New crafted items are also coming at level 60 that will offer best-in-slot options for most characters, keeping crafting skills relevant even beyond the skill cap that we’ll reach in Phase 3.

The developers are also “totally revamping tier sets” with some new variants for different playstyles. Three examples are shown in the video:

  • A new Nightslayer Hood for Rogue tanks
  • A new Lawbringer Shoulderplates item for a Paladin “Shockadin” build
  • A new Cenarion Tunic for Balance Druids

We won’t be seeing complete sets for every niche build, but it does sound like Blizzard wants to put in some more support for the more unique and unusual playstyles at level 60.
