Professions Preview for Phase 3 of Season of Discovery

Professions Preview for Phase 3 of Season of Discovery

Along with their announcement that Phase 3 will launch on April 4th, Blizzard previewed a lot of the content that we can expect to see coming to Season of Discovery. Included in their Phase 3 Preview Video are several previews for Professions, covering content we’ve seen previously in Vanilla and WoW Classic as well as some brand new stuff for Season of Discovery.

New Crafted Items in Phase 3

Like in previous phases, there will be a new epic quest chain in the Sunken Temple raid that will allow players to learn new crafting recipes for powerful items. These include epic shoulders, engineering bracers, a reusable Alchemy flask, and “some fun things for Engineering, Enchanting, and Alchemy.” These recipes will be free in terms of raw gold, and the recipes offered in Gnomeregan will also be reduced in price.

Three crafted items were previewed in the video:

  • Shoulderpads of the Deranged, epic cloth shoulders crafted by Tailors
  • Screaming Chain Pauldrons, epic mail shoulders crafted by Leatherworkers
  • Void-Powered Slayer’s Vambraces, epic bracers crafted by Engineers

The shoulder items each have a special effect that only applies inside the Emerald Nightmare. It’s unclear whether that only applies to the new Nightmare Incursions event or whether this will work inside the Sunken Temple raid as well.

Crafting Specializations and Profession Cap in Phase 3

Phase 3 will raise the skill cap to 300, so you’ll be able to max out all of your professions this phase. You’ll also be able to pick up crafting specializations for Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Leatherworking and complete the Nat Pagle quests for Fishing and the Triage quests for First Aid.

The video also mentions some new surprises coming in Phase 3, including a quest that will allow Alchemists to proc extra elixirs, potions, and flasks. There is even more content planned for professions in later phases.

Later in the video, it’s mentioned that specializations are planned to be a bit more flexible, more like they are in Burning Crusade. So you’ll be able to change specializations later on at a cost.
