Another survey leak has been posted on Reddit and we are able to see that Blizzard is probing for, not if classic fresh realms, but when and how they should be implemented. This is very exciting news to see that those that appreciate the original game will continue to keep playing it.
The planned timeline is odd that it seems like all fresh realms are set to start and end at the same time while the only variable adjusted is on how long Classic should last. Although there were slower times with Classic’s release schedule, a timeline where the content is reduced from almost 2 full years down to 6 months would seem to only benefit hardcore players who can actually keep up as well as handle harder raid content with significantly less raid gear.
I’d be curious to see if they would consider rolling fresh realms where for example, every six months fresh realms are released and all realms have about a 1.5 year timetable. This would allow for 3 different phase levels that could happen concurrently. Then a person could even have a character in each phase and the content would all be about the same level of freshness. MC/BWL, AQ, then Naxx would be able to be split up relatively evenly. You could have characters at different development phases and it would always feel fresh.
Regardless of the implementation, it will be good to see the Classic eras of WoW continue to be supported and remain relevant for hopefully years to come.
