unlock a mount in retail wow by playing a death knight in wrath of the lich king classic featured image

With the release of the Wrath of the Lich King: Classic pre-patch, players are now able to create the Death Knight Hero Class and play through their unique starting experience. While this will be exciting for a lot of Wrath of the Lich King: Classic players, Shadowlands players can also participate in the pre-patch’s release and earn a unique reward to use in the Shadowlands and the upcoming Dragonflight expansion. Players that create a Death Knight character and play through their starting experience will earn the new Frostbrood Proto-Wyrm mount to be used in the Shadowlands expansion and beyond.

For players that wish to participate and unlock this mount, it’s fairly straightforward:

  1. Have an active World of Warcraft subscription, as it gives access to both Retail and Classic servers
  2. Create a Death Knight character and complete their starting zone, including the Where Kings Walk quest for Alliance or Warchief’s Blessing for Horde. You can create a Death Knight character straightaway on any server except the Fresh servers ( Thekal & Giantstalker on EU and Skyfury & Maladath on NA).

The pre-patch for Wrath of the Lich King Classic is now live, and with it, players can play as the Death Knight Hero Class before making their way into the frozen lands of Northrend to confront the Lich King. Players who play through the complete Death Knight starting experience* in Wrath of the Lich King Classic will earn the Frostbrood Proto-Wyrm** to carry them through their adventures in Shadowlands and beyond into the upcoming Dragonflight expansion.

Few proto-dragons were considered part of the frostbrood—only those that were risen from powerful remains, the members of long forgotten draconic flights.

*Requires completion of the quest “Where Kings Walk” on Alliance characters or “Warchief’s Blessing” on Horde characters.
**Mount not available in World of Warcraft® Classic titles.

Long time World of Warcraft player, I'm always looking for new music to listen to, and weird facts and news to share with friends. I mostly play retail World of Warcraft nowadays, with some occasional Hunt, League of Legends, and Dead by Daylight.
