Unless you’re a mage with the Legion class mount, there aren’t many options for flying mounts that let you stand on them as if you’re surfing, but thankfully one of the few options is rather easy to get, requiring just a little bit of time set aside to explore Pandaria in search of lost scrolls. The Red Flying Cloud is obtainable through getting the Lorewalkers reputation to Exalted, and spending around 500 gold.

The Lorewalkers reputation is unique in that the chief way to gain reputation with them is to complete achievements requiring you to find all the lost stories (scrolls) related to the achievement in Pandaria, and then turning in the resulting quest item mailed to you for the completion. The achievements span across many zones, but you aren’t required to do them in any particular order. By completing all the achievements and turning in their corresponding item you will reach exalted, and can go to Tan Shin Tiao in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms to purchase your mount.

Required Achievements

Since you don’t have to go in order of achievements, you can instead go by zone, letting you streamline how you collect scrolls. The best way to do this if you don’t want to explore on your own is to get an addon such as TomTom, and use the waypoints below to find the scrolls much quicker.

Once you have all the achievements completed, you can begin turning in your quest items to Lorewalker Cho, once you hit Revered you can even buy the Grand Commendation of the Lorewalkers from Tan Shin Tiao to double your experience gains for the last few items to ensure you end up firmly in exalted so you can buy your very own cloud. Both the vendor and Lorewalker Cho are in the Seat of Knowledge on the east edge of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
