Players Blocked From Learning Battleground Opponents in Advance in The War Within

wow sod battleground matchmaking update phase 2

A hotfix has gone out to prevent players from learning about their opponents before entering a battleground. In their notice for the hotfix, Blizzard has reminded players that third-party software that violates the End User License Agreement is grounds for them to take action against an account.

In a follow-up post, Vrakthris from Customer Support clarified that addons are not considered third-party software since they operate within the confines of the game’s systems. So addons such as Battleground Enemies are not in violation of the EULA.

With hotfixes that are now live, we have reinforced the measures taken to prevent players from obtaining information about their potential PvP opponents in advance of a battleground. This is applicable to all rated battlegrounds, unrated battlegrounds, rated brawls, and unrated brawls.

As a reminder, we regularly take action against accounts using third-party software that is found to be in violation of the Blizzard End User License Agreement.
