The Greedy Emissary Event Returns July 1 in The War Within

Luxrah Luxrah • Published June 26, 2025

The Greedy Emissary event is making its way back to World of Warcraft from July 1st through July 29th. Head to Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal, or Undermine to hunt down Treasure Goblins for unique rewards.

During the event, you’ll also have a buff called Collector’s Bounty that causes legacy dungeon and raid bosses to drop additional loot. Your chance to get transmog items in pre-Dragonflight raids is doubled, and many legacy mounts and legendary items have had their drop rate increased by 10 to 25 times. If you were never able to farm up that other Binding of the Windseeker or Warglaive of Azzinoth, now’s your chance!

We’re bringing back the Greedy Emissary event*, and Azeroth’s bravest must band together to deliver a swift end to greedy, saw-toothed thieves. And, alongside the Greedy Emissary event, take advantage of the Collector’s Bounty buff when you defeat legendary foes once again to collect their bountiful rewards!

When: Begins July 1 at 8:00 am PDT and ends July 29 at 8:00 am PDT
Where: Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal, and Undermine
Currency: Hellstone Shards earned during the Greedy Emissary event.

During the Greedy Emissary event, you’ll encounter even more of these deviously greedy Treasure Goblins in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal, and Undermine for new diabolical rewards— including the Inarius’ Charger mount.

    Collector’s Bounty Buff

Alongside the Greedy Emissary event, take advantage of the Collector’s Bounty buff. Foes in legacy dungeons and raids find themselves overloaded with extra treasure. Defeat them once again to collect their bountiful rewards for you and your Warband.

When: Begins July 1 at 8:00 am PDT and ends July 29 at 8:00 am PDT

If you’ve been on the hunt for rewards that have been eluding you, now’s the time to get them. The following will have drop rates increased by up to 10 times (and in one case, 25 times!), while your chance for Transmog loot drops is doubled in legacy (pre-Dragonflight) raids and dungeons:

    • All pre-Dragonflight legacy mounts from legacy dungeons and raids
    • Eye of Sulfuras (Molten Core)
    • Golden Hearthstone Card (The Nighthold)
    • Bindings of the Windseeker (Molten Core)
    • Warglaives of Azzinoth (Black Temple)
    • Thori’dal, The Stars’ Fury (Sunwell Plateau)

Some exclusions do apply—for instance, all Timewalking content is excluded, as are Pets and Toys.

The Collector’s Bounty buff is active by default, but you can visit any innkeeper in the capital cities and Dalaran to turn it off or on again.

    Portals-A-Plenty

Portals spawn every 60 minutes on the hour, and an icon of the Portal location appears on the Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Dornogal maps if you’re in that zone.

    • Dornogal: Portals spawn by the southeastern city exit after the target dummy area.
    • Orgrimmar: Portals spawn outside Orgrimmar, by the entrance gate.
    • Stormwind: Portals spawn by the Stormwind Docks.

Portals and Portal Storms in the Undermine

Portals abound in the Undermine, but spawning times and locations are a bit different. Killing any Undermine rare has a chance to trigger a Portal spawning a Treasure Goblin.

Treasure Goblins have gotten word that great loot can be nabbed in the Liberation of Undermine raid—defeat certain bosses, and there’s a chance that it will trigger a Portal to spawn.

If that isn’t enough, try to survive the Portal Storms! At the quarter-hour every hour, a Portal Storm can spawn another five Portals. Not only are these Portals enhanced with additional Affixes, but they each have a chance to hand-deliver pesky Treasure Goblins for even more chances to grab loot. So, keep an eye on your map for the icon to lead you where you need to go.

    Treasure Goblin Affixes and Elixirs

Treasure Goblins are more dangerous now that they carry more affixes from their world. Icons on top of both the summoning Portal and the Treasure Goblin itself will indicate what affixes the Treasure Goblin currently has applied.

Customize what affixes a Treasure Goblin will have by tossing special Elixirs on the Goblin summoning portals, but beware, adding more Affixes to a Portal will increase the number of goblins that can spawn.
