In an interview with Holly Longdale, Executive Producer and Vice President for World of Warcraft, and Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director for World of Warcraft, European outlet Gamereactor got what appears to be confirmation of something that eagle-eyed fans have suspected since the 2025 roadmap was revealed in November’s Warcraft Direct.
At 3:55 in the interview, Longdale says: “And players have been asking us, you know… ‘Mists of Pandaria was my favorite expansion,’ and we’ve been going back there in modern and in Classic. Legion, my favorite expansion, we’re gonna be going back there and experiencing it in a new way.“
That certainly sounds like another remix is in the works!
A Legion remix has been suspected due to that expansion’s massive popularity among World of Warcraft players and the fact that it’s not currently part of the Classic WoW lineup (and probably won’t be for at least a couple of years). There’s also the fact that the 2025 roadmap has an interesting fel green color as it approaches winter. There’s a mysterious symbol at the end of the original roadmap as well, although that has since been replaced by a house symbol, likely indicating that we will see some content for the new Player Housing system before the launch of Midnight.
That timing makes perfect sense, too. Where the Mists of Pandaria Remix filled the gap between the last content phase for Dragonflight and the launch of The War Within, a Legion remix could do the same for World of Warcraft: Midnight. The Midnight expansion will bring players back to some of the content from the Burning Crusade expansion, which will also be releasing for WoW Classic Anniversary Edition around the same time. So while the end of 2024 was all about vanilla World of Warcraft as it celebrated its 20th anniversary, the end of 2025 is shaping up to be all about the Burning Legion.
