WoWCast Developer Chat: Aberrus Raid

wowcast developer chat aberrus raid

Today Blizzard posted the second episode of their new WoWCast Developer Chat series, and this episode is about the latest raid, Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. In the video, Community Manager Bethany Stout chats with Steve Crow, Principal Artist, and Michael Nuthals, Lead Encounter Designer.

The developers talk about what inspired their designs and the lore behind the Aberrus raid. They also give some insight as to the process of building the actual 3D space and planning the encounters. Both developers emphasized the importance of the PTR and expressed enthusiasm for the feedback they get from players. They then spoke about lessons learned from previous raids, citing Sanctum of Domination for examples. Interestingly, Nuthals stated that they approach each encounter from Heroic difficulty first, and tune the other difficulties from there.

There was no new information given about the next raid, although both developers said their teams were “hard at work” on it.

The entire video can be found below. You can skip the stream intro to 15:00 – that’s where the actual chat begins!
