In Cataclysm, the profession level cap is elevated to 525 with the introduction of the Illustrious Grand Master tier. Reforging is introduced, allowing players to convert secondary stats on items, alongside the introduction of a new secondary profession: Archaeology. Inscription sees a restructure with the introduction of Prime, Major, and Minor glyph tiers. Specializations in Tailoring, Leatherworking, and Blacksmithing are eliminated, with their recipes becoming baseline. Additionally, an array of new materials for various professions are introduced, spanning herbs, jewels, metals, cloths, skins, inks, enchanting materials, and other crafting essentials.
