Volatile Water

Volatile elements are among the most in-demand crafting materials in Cataclysm. They’re required for many endgame recipes and can be challenging to farm, which tends to make them especially valuable. Among these five items is Volatile Life, which is a little different from other the other four volatiles in that it does not drop from mobs and can only be gathered with Herbalism (or very rarely with Skinning).

• Volatile Life can randomly be looted alongside other Cataclysm herbs when gathering with the Herbalism skill.
• Any Cataclysm herb node in level 80-85 zones has about a 35% chance to give a Volatile Life in addition to its own herbs.
• The best place to farm Volatile Life will be wherever you can pick the most herbs as quickly as possible. You’ll want to avoid zones where many other players are actively herbing and look for places where you will be able to reach herbs without having to constantly fight off mobs.
• Uldum is one of the best places to farm due to the abundance of Whiptail along its river banks, where you won’t encounter many enemies. You may find that there are a lot of people farming in this area for this reason, however.
• If you need other herbs, you can focus on farming what you need and you’ll get Volatile Life naturally alongside it:

• You can also rarely loot these volatiles from Strange Bloated Stomachs if you have Skinning.

Uldum

• Here you’ll be farming Whiptail along the river bank, which should get you a lot of Volatile Life as well.

Mount Hyjal

• Here you’ll be looking for Cinderbloom and Stormvine, and maybe a little Azshara’s Veil, which should get you a lot of Volatile Life as well.
• This zone has the advantage that any enemies you encounter will be a little lower-level and easier to kill than in the other zones.

Deepholm

• Here you’ll be collecting Cinderbloom and Heartblossom, which should get you a lot of Volatile Life as well.

Twilight Highlands

• You’ll be picking up Twilight Jasmine and Cinderbloom here, which should get you a lot of Volatile Life as well.
• The route in red has the best spawns, but the yellow route is an alternative if that area is being farmed by other players.
• This zone has many high-level enemies which can make it a little tricker to farm.
