One thing I'm really looking forward to in classic is some good, old fashioned world pvp. I know a lot of other people will be looking forward to it as well. I didn't start playing WoW until tbc, so my only experience with vanilla is on private servers which isn't the same when it comes to world pvp. I'm familiar with Stranglethorn Vale being infamous for being a pvp warzone, and I'm looking forward to that. So, my question to players from the beginning, what other sort of PvP hotspots are there around Azeroth in your experience? Are there any other areas that see regular fights? Or perhaps, do you have any memorable PvP fights in areas that typically didn't see much action but did on a certain occasion?

Lakeshire in Redridge Mountains has horde players attacking it 80% of the time. The pirate camps in Tanaris are always contested with people requesting for backup. Some quests to be wary of are the Chicken escorts in Tanaris, Feralas and Hinterlands, they take about 5-10 minutes and my heart races every single time until I make it to the end without being attacked, but usually you would have a full group with you for protection.

Southshore-Taren Mill, Tanaris, STV, Redridge, Blackrock Mountain and the paths to it. Any of the raid entrances during prime raid times can see guild vs guild raids (although both groups may try to avoid to keep their buffs). Really any contested zone can have some fun PvP. I'd say that lower level zones are more heavily ganked by high levels, however, the higher level leveling zones end up being places to farm honor in world PvP by large groups so they can both be frustrating. If a higher level is ganking lowbies then I'd recommend asking in /g or /1 for help because there are almost always people that have been ganked while leveling that want some revenge on the gankers.

Also, this may be obvious but worth pointing out: there will be a lot more PvP on PvP/RP-PvP servers compared to their PvE counterparts. Unfortunately you have to deal with it while leveling, but fortunately you get to participate in it while leveling LoL

Nesingwary's in STV is a perpetual warzone for leveling characters. Unless people decide to make a Tarren Mill versus Southshore battle, it won't really happen. Those happened back in the day because there was no bg's or other avenues for organized PvP. Realistically, the Horde has many quests in Hillsbrad from 20-30, and the Alliance doesn't really have any until the late 20's and early 30's, and still very few for the Alliance overall. So there is a level and priority mismatch b/w the factions that won't lead to huge amounts of PvP. The only exception is both factions have a quest for murlocs along the beach along the southern coast, and some of the most fun I've had playing vanilla on this one private server was 5 man group vs. 5 man group fighting eachother while getting swarmed by murlocs. Other than that, people are over-anticipating the amount of PvP that will happen in Hillsbrad.

Other than that, if we're talking about PvP where both sides will be equally present/powerful...
Blackrock Mountain, maybe Ashenvale, the road in Arathi. Maybe the area outside of Booty Bay in southern STV.

Besides all the other ones said, In later phases a lot of 60 wpvp will exist in Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands.

Silithus will be particularly fun... and brutal.

How about the first week or two after ZG opens? You have to wage a war in order to summon people outside the instance.

I’d say Hillsbrad and Blackrock mountain are pretty contested areas. Not as much as STV but still a lot of people PvP there.

Why were places like Tarren Mill and Xroads popular for World PvP?

Blackrock Mountain, Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes, Winterspring and of course Stranglethorn Vale will probably be some of the most heated zones to be in come phase 1-2 end-game.
