PvE Affliction Warlock Enchants, Gems, & Consumables

As an Affliction Warlock in Mists of Pandaria, you’ll be looking for gems, enchants, and consumables that provide the strongest Intellect and secondary stat bonuses to help you overwhelm your enemies with DoT damage.

Gems

Gems can help you reach the Hit cap or a Haste breakpoint if needed, but it’s better to do that through reforging when possible and save your gem slots for Mastery. As far as colors go, Intellect and Mastery socket bonuses should always be taken by using appropriate colored gems, but Hit and Haste bonuses depend on whether you need to reach a cap, and other stats such as Critical Strike or Spirit can be ignored.

While Intellect is more valuable point-for-point, you’ll get twice as many stats out of secondary stat gems, which makes them more optimal overall.

Potions

You can “pre-pot” by using Potion of the Jade Serpent just before entering combat. This will put your potions on cooldown but allow you to use them again later in the fight. You may want to save your potion cooldown for a healing or mana potion on certain fights.

Flasks & Elixirs

There are no good Guardian Elixirs for Affliction Warlocks, so you will always prefer to use a flask. If you have Alchemy, you’ll get 30% increased stats and an extra hour of duration from each flask.

Food

Your best food is made with the Way of the Pot Cooking specialty. Having this specialty will increase the stats you gain from eating the associated Banquets.
