Whether it be more permanent buffs to your character such as gems and enchantments you apply to gear, or more temporary buffs such as from food or flasks – a large chunk of stats are going to come from these sources so it’s worth investing into.
Gems
You’ll likely want to go for gems that give raw Agility when possible, then worry about Expertise/Hit caps, then finally if the previous requirements are satisfied then you can focus on secondary stats like Mastery or Haste.

Cog-Wheel Socket
A special socket type for Engineers who craft a Deadly Retinal Armor for themselves. You can slot in special gems that are crafted by Engineers that offer bonus stats. It’s recommended to use this slot for secondary stats like Mastery and Haste for DPS gains unless you can perfectly balance your Hit/Exp through these slots and make use of other areas to increase throughput.
