Hunter or Shaman for a casual

Hi everyone.

I too will be joining wow classic soon but am still debating between a hunter and a shaman. I do know I will pick a Tauren.
My first character that a got past level 20 in vanilla was a tauren shaman. But I never got him past level 45 or so.
I stopped playing and when TBC came out I get back in and started playing on a new server with friends.
My first maxed character was a bloof elf hunter. From that point my main has always been a hunter.
I have some experience healing with a priest I leveled during TBC and I did enjoy it, so the fact I have to go resto is not really a problem.

My life will allow me to basically play 2 hours each night, and some more during weekends. I am planning on leveling nice and slow and enjoying as much of it as possible. I want to do every dungeon possible while leveling. I do not really plan to raid and I think a nice goal would be to either go after the dungeon set or the blue pvp set.
Do you guys have any recommendations between these two classes?
Will both get me in dungeon groups at level 60 relatively easy? Or will one of the two be skipped mostly.

Are you looking for a PVE or PVP? A small group of us are starting a guild named Bar and Grill. Super Chill and laid back and nothing but having fun.

No doubt hunter. There will be many more hunters than shamans and with good reason. It is a very casual class that you can play without too much effort while still being fairly competent.

For a Tauren, I would recommend Shaman. Tauren Hunter is the only race and class combination that makes your gameplay experience actively worse.

Might I ask why? I see why the racials wouldn't make it better. But how do they make it actively worse?

Go for hunter. Shamans are awful.

Hunter for sure, if you want casual, make an animal fight everything for you while you autoattack from a distance. Literally does not get any more casual.

I think hunter is the ultimate choice for a casual player. They have great solo ability, so you can do a lot of things at your own pace, and when you do want to jump into a group, you've got some good utility to bring to the table.

Search around here for the thread on Leeway.

Shaman has a notoriously weak leveling experience. It was made somewhat better by Earthbind kiting but being a Tauren with the added Classic leeway will severely hamper that.

If you want to go easy and sip the leveling experience alone with no concern for end-game raiding and gearing, hunter is a much better choice.

I consider myself casual too, will go shaman for sure. Yes, with hunter leveling is faster, but I find more enjoyable to do something of everything if I want (dps, tank, healing), and since you said you will not be raiding I think shaman would be a great option!
