Tailoring Leveling Guide 1-600
Tailoring is a standalone profession that does not require a gathering skill. It is most commonly taken up by Cloth-wearing characters, although it can be useful to anyone. It’s frequently paired with Enchanting, which is a similarly independent profession. Leveling the two together allows the player to disenchant the items they craft with Tailoring.
If you reached max skill level in Tailoring during Cataclysm, you can skip most of the level ranges and start at the Zen Master section.
Tips for Leveling Tailoring
- It’s always worth checking the Auction House for cheap materials.
- Use the Filter button in the Tailoring window and click “Has skill up” to only show recipes that will give you skill points. This will make it a lot easier to scroll through your options.
- When you go to start crafting, be sure that you have plenty of space in your inventory, as the items you will be crafting do not stack. Don’t fill your bags with materials and leave yourself no space for the items you will be making.
- Don’t forget the Darkmoon Faire quest, Banners, Banners Everywhere!, which can be completed every time the Darkmoon Faire is active (every two weeks in WoW Classic). This quest requires a minimum skill level of 75 and grants 5 skill points upon completion.

Patterns
You will only need to purchase one pattern to follow this guide; the rest can be learned from your Tailoring Trainer. This pattern isn’t needed until the very last stretch from 577-600. At that point you may be looking to craft other items to wear or sell anyway, in which case you can potentially skip this pattern altogether.
You can choose between Pattern: Contender’s Satin Cuffs or Pattern: Contender’s Silk Cuffs, both of which are sold by the Tailoring Supplies vendor in your faction’s Shrine in Vale of Eternal Blossoms at a cost of 1 Spirit of Harmony. Here are the vendors:
