Tailoring Cloth & Bolts
Most Tailoring crafting patterns require cloth bolts as the primary material. These bolts are crafted from individual pieces of cloth which can be looted throughout the world. There are also special types of fabric that have more specific requirements such as rare materials, a specific location, or a cooldown.
Cloth Bolts
There are 9 types of basic cloth in Mists of Pandaria, each of which creates its own type of basic bolt. Windwool Cloth is the primary endgame material for this expansion.
Special Fabrics
There are also several types of special fabric that are crafted with Tailoring and used in some of the profession’s more powerful or valuable patterns. These are covered in more detail below.
Mooncloth
Mooncloth was the first special fabric in the game. It is learned from Pattern: Mooncloth, which is sold by Qia, the Trade Supplies vendor at Everlook in Winterspring.
At one time the pattern had a 4-day cooldown, but that went away in Cataclysm. It still requires you to be near a moonwell to craft it.
Imbued Netherweave & Soulcloth
Bolt of Imbued Netherweave is learned from Pattern: Bolt of Imbued Netherweave, which can be purchased from Tailoring Supplies vendors in Shattrath City, Silvermoon City, and The Exodar. This pattern used to require being near the Mana Loom in Shattrath City, but now you can craft it anywhere.
Bolt of Soulcloth is learned from Pattern: Bolt of Soulcloth, which can be purchased from the same vendors as Imbued Netherweave.
Primal Mooncloth, Shadowcloth, & Spellcloth
These three fabrics were originally crafted by specialized Tailors, but now anyone can make them. Their patterns, and patterns that use each type of cloth, are sold by specific vendors in Shattrath City or Dalaran, near the Tailoring Trainer in each location. They each require being in a specific location to craft.
Primal Mooncloth can only be crafted near a moonwell, similar to Mooncloth. Shadowcloth must be made at the Altar of Shadows in Shadowmoon Valley. Spellcloth requires being anywhere in the Netherstorm zone.
Like Mooncloth, these patterns used to have a cooldown, but now you can make them as often as you want.
Imbued Frostweave
Bolt of Imbued Frostweave doesn’t have any special requirements and can be learned from any Tailoring Trainer.
Ebonweave, Moonshroud, & Spellweave
Ebonweave, Moonshroud, and Spellweave are all taught by Tailoring Trainers and do not have any special requirements other than their materials.
Dreamcloth
Dreamcloth is a bit different than other special fabrics. It can be crafted via six different patterns. The first five each have a 7-day cooldown: Dream of Azshara, Dream of Deepholm, Dream of Hyjal, Dream of Ragnaros, and Dream of Skywall. The sixth pattern, Dream of Destruction, can be crafted as much as you want. There are no location requirements for any of these patterns, and they can all be learned directly from Tailoring Trainers.
Imperial Silk
The new special fabric in Mists of Pandaria is Imperial Silk. There are two patterns for crafting it, both of which are learned directly from Tailoring Trainers. The standard recipe has a one-day cooldown while Song of Harmony is unlimited, but requires 3 Spirit of Harmony per craft, which can make it expensive to use.
Crafting the standard pattern creates a Silkworm Cocoon, which when opened will contain your Imperial Silk and has a chance to also contain one of two battle pets: Imperial Moth or Imperial Silkworm. Using Song of Harmony only produces the Imperial Silk and does not have a chance of granting one of the pets.
Both patterns must be crafted at The Silken Fields in Valley of the Four winds.
Celestial Cloth
Celestial Cloth can be learned from Pattern: Celestial Cloth and Its Uses, a Pandaria-wide drop that doesn’t appear until the final phase of the expansion. The pattern teaches both the standard method and Accelerated Celestial Cloth as well as all of the recipes that use the cloth.
The standard pattern has a one-day cooldown. Accelerated Celestial Cloth is unlimited, but requires the valuable material Spirit of War. Neither pattern has any location requirement.
