Enchanting Leveling Guide 1-600

Enchanting is a standalone profession that acts as its own gathering skill. It is often chosen as a straightforward and convenient second profession, particularly alongside Tailoring which does not require a gathering skill either. The biggest hurdle for leveling Enchanting is getting your hands on the right materials, which will either require a substantial gold investment or acquiring a lot of lower level green items to disenchant. If you’re leveling the skill alongside Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, or Tailoring, you will be able to disenchant the items you craft with your other profession, which will make this a lot easier.

If you reached max skill level in Enchanting during Cataclysm, you can skip most of the level ranges and start at the Zen Master section.

Tips for Leveling Enchanting

  • Be sure to keep your Runed Copper Rod in your bags as you will need it for crafting any enchantments.
  • In addition to the materials listed, you will need an item of the appropriate type or an Enchanting Vellum to apply each enchantment to. Enchanting Vellum will allow you to sell your enchantments on the Auction House.
  • It’s always worth checking the Auction House for cheap materials or items that you can disenchant.
  • If you have Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, or Tailoring, you can craft equipment with your other profession and then Disenchant it for Enchanting materials.
  • If you are going to Disenchant many of the same item in bulk, you can use a macro to make the process easier.
  • Don’t be afraid to craft a different enchantment at any point if you have a surplus of a different material available, or if it’s useful to your character(s)!
  • Use the Filter button in the Enchanting window and click “Has skill up” to only show recipes that will give you skill points. This will make it a lot easier to scroll through your options.
  • Broadly speaking, Bracer enchants are often the cheapest in terms of materials. That makes them ideal for leveling efficiently. Weapon enchantments are the most expensive and should be skipped unless you will be able to sell them at a good price.
  • Don’t forget the Darkmoon Faire quest, Putting Trash to Good Use, which can be completed every time the Darkmoon Faire is active (every two weeks in WoW Classic). This quest requires a minimum skill level of 75 and grants 5 skill points upon completion.

Enchanting Materials

Most of what you’ll need to level Enchanting are enchanting materials such as dust and essences that can be obtained by Disenchanting gear of the appropriate level range, or purchased from the Auction House. This guide does not use any shards or crystals, only the cheaper materials that can be acquired from Uncommon (green) items.

Supplies

Beyond enchanting materials, you’ll need a few other miscellaneous supplies to follow this guide:

  • Copper Rod x1
    • Sold by Trade Supplies and Enchanting Supplies vendors
  • Purple Lotus x36
    • Gathered with Herbalism or purchased from the Auction House
  • Nightmare Vine x15

You will also need Enchanting Vellum for every enchantment if you are not planning to enchant your own gear. Enchanting Vellum can be purchased from Enchanting Supplies vendors or crafted with Inscription.
