According to this post on Superdata, World of Warcraft Classic caused a massive uptick in subscriptions this August.  When compared to the numbers only as far back as July, subscriptions are up an estimated 223%.  Despite this surge in subscriptions, the total revenue was actually lower than the launch of The Battle for Azeroth expansion last August.

Looks like What this ultimately means for the future of WoW Classic is still unclear, but it is certainly an exciting development for both developers and players.
