This guide will cover how to get the Survival of the Fittest rune for Druids in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

- Class: Druid
- Slot: Chest
- Added: Phase 1
- Level: 20 (Required)
How to Get the Survival of the Fittest Rune
To get the Survival of the Fittest rune, you’ll need to be level 20.
Head to Ratchet in The Barrens. This is a Horde zone, but the town is neutral, so this also works for Alliance players. Find Grizzby in the inn on the south side, around 62, 39.
Progress his gossip dialogue, and he will offer the following three quests to collect items:
- Fish Oil:
- 24 Fish Oil
- Found from Murlocs & Naga starting at level 25. Common in Hillsbrad Foothills and Blackfathom Deeps.
- 24 Fish Oil
- Dark Iron Ordinance:
- 20 Dark Iron Ordinance
- Dropped by higher level Dark Iron Dwarves found among other places in Wetlands.
- 20 Dark Iron Ordinance
- Shredder Turbochargers:
- 16 Shredder Turbocharger
- Create Shredder Autosalvage Unit with Engineering, or purchase them on the Auction House. Schematic: Shredder Autosalvage Unit is dropped by Sneed in The Deadmines. Rogues can also use Pick Pocket on Venture Co. Builders, Operators, and Engineers at Windshear Crag in Stonetalon Mountains for a low chance of looting the item.
- Next, use Shredder Autosalvage Unit on the new Venture Co Shredders in Stonetalon Mountains. Each Shredder Autosalvage Unit disappears when used, and they don’t always get you the item, so you may need to use a lot more than 16 of them to get all of your Shredder Turbochargers.
- 16 Shredder Turbocharger
After handing these in you will be sent to your faction’s capital city (
Stormwind or 
Orgrimmar) and back. On your return, Grizzby will sell you Rune of Survival for 5
, which you can right-click to learn the rune.

Does the engineer crafted item dissapear on use? Because its a gold for it on my server, hoping I dont need to pump in 20g for 1 part of the quest
Unfortunately yes, and it also doesn’t get you a turbocharger every time, so you need more than 16.
Doesn’t matter if you’re and engineer or buying from AH, this is gonna cost you.
