Players have been in a frenzy trying out the PTR servers, looking for changes made since the last time they were up.

One of the most apparent things that players are keeping an eye out for is the new PvP gear coming with arena season 3 in patch 2.5.3 / phase 3. Players quickly discovered that the cost of arena gear of every season appeared to be incorrect.

Specifically:

  • Season 3 gear was 50% discounted and had no rating requirements.
  • Season 2 gear was available for honor.
  • Season 1 gear was available for honor, and also 50% discounted.

These parameters match the cost of this gear in season 4, which is the arena season that will come with phase 5 / the Sunwell Plateau patch. It was not correct for phase 3 / season 3 / the tier 6 patch, and multiple forum threads were created to point this out to Blizzard.

Kaivax responded very soon afterwards that these costs are indeed not intended and that Blizzard is looking into the issue. Following Kaivax’s post, many players are reporting that the items have now been adjusted to have their correct costs based on how they were in the original Burning Crusade’s season 3.

However, there has been a surprising amount of players asking for Blizzard to revert a part of this change – specifically, season 2 gear being fixed to cost arena points again – as it becomes significantly easier to gear up alts and catch-up as a newcomer when season 2 gear is available for honor points. It remains unclear if Blizzard will listen to the players in this instance and Kaivax has not commented on this further.

What are your feelings on this topic? Do you prefer that the older PvP gear is available for purchase with honor and comes at a discount, or do you think Blizzard should keep things as accurate to original Burning Crusade as possible? Let us know in the comments below!

Yes incorrect. Not intended.

We’re looking into it.
