Dodging streamer servers

Recently, there have been discussions about the impact of streamers on classic servers. There was this video made by Classic Winds

and its got me seriously concerned about how it will impact the classic experience. Do you think we will be able to reliably avoid the streamer servers on launch? Do you think they will announce their servers or do you think they will avoid specific types of servers (PvP)?

Hopefully Blizzard posts a list of all the realms before release so to let people know so they can can decide what realm they're going to play on, in which case you can avoid most streamer realms this way. I won't be surprised if a lot of streamers won't announce where they're playing simply because they know most people don't want to be around them or watch realms devolve into stream chats.

I guarantee you if you play on a realm that streamers play on openly you are not going to be able to discuss the game as easily, trade as easily, find groups as easily or even just enjoy the game for what it is. General and trade chat are almost guaranteed to have bland conversations going on about what a streamer is doing, has done, or even just talking about what they're talking about on stream, and even if the streamer is playing another game or offline people are still going to talk about them, what they're doing, when they're going to get on, etc, they don't want to sit in stream if they can just turn WoW chat into stream chat.

Sweet lord, this was painful to watch. To think one could be on the same server as such children.

The clip with the mount is just stupid. I mean we all know that you can brain afk those the next addon with your 25 chars. With the glaive i have to say that it wrecked in PvP on a rogue. But yeah hope we can avoid streamers.

Definitely want to avoid the streamers in any way possible urgh.
Honestly don't get what is wrong with people following a bunch of totally normal players so fanatically.
Absolutely hope blizzard will post servers beforehand so we can dodge them. Wouldn't want to be anywhere near them.

Even if we assume it should go to rogue, there was one other rogue rolling higher than him.

i absolutely plan to avoid any servers with streamers on them.
not only will the population be out of control to the point blizzard might consider using sharding on those servers (shoot me please), but they will have lots of queue time on them.

Alright after thinking about that and watching those videos i'm really concerned now about all of this shit. Although we are much more in a good position than NA players, i doubt there are a lot popular streamers but that been said how we doing to avoid them? It would be awesome to have some topic on this forum to track all this stuff about realms and streamers. teebling what do you think about that? Lets pin some thread with realm choosing topic.

Kchlangendin I’ve literally built a whole new section of the site for Realms so that people can organise themselves/discuss realm specifics and stuff like this Wink

Great! At launch I think it would helpful to have a public document with all the popular streamers and their selected servers. This way only a few people need to be watching the streams to identify and record their selected server and the majority of players can check cross check the document before rolling. @teebling any plans for a tool within barrens.chat to manage this? If no one else has done it by the time blizz announces server names I can initiate a list via google spreadsheet.

Yeah if someone wants to take care of that then by all means go ahead and make a topic/speeadsheet here.

I’m not bothered myself btw about all this - streamers may come to your server for a bit but they won’t be around forever! They’ll move away with the other tourists.

That's exactly my thoughts. Those manchildren won't be able to take Classic for more than a month until next hyped up thing appears on horizon and they move on. I'm just appalled how much following they get and how their fans act like private armies. I wonder what is the average age of Sodapoppin's and McConnell's followers.

Worst case scenario is, they'll ruin your fun for a couple months. Might damage server society and reputation irreversibly. On the other hand, they'll be first on the realm, probably streaming from minute 0. You'll be able to tell you've entered wrong neighbourhood quickly.

Still, the idea of Google sheet with red flagged realms would be much appreciated.

Watching that mount video absolutely made my day. Thank you so much for posting this. That was hilarious. Can't believe the dude cried over a mount. That Soda video was also very sad.

Would rock with such a spreadsheet yeah!
But yeah, sure am happy to be playing EU, that's another big reason I didn't want to roll on US servers even with my playtimes..
